Uncle Junior (Gooch)I will miss you for a million years (at least)and always know youll be in my heart,i still have that silver dollar you gave me in 62,still remeber those Bell Telephone trucks and all you taught me,and although we hadnt seen each other in years i have always had that special place in my heart for my family. As ive seen many have followed including my aunts and uncles ,sister, cousins and now i know what Grandpop Tony meant when he said to me that the worse thing in life is when youre the last to go as the friends are gone, and not many to relate to,i still have the rack i found with you the winter season of 68 and ill have it until it is my time to join you.You can be rest assured that youre children and the rest of the family will hold the fine traditions and the way of life you would want and expect of us to live. And as now i know youre there with family whom weve all loved and shared the joys of this life with rest my favorite uncle. Please say hello to Anthony Christopher my son youre namesake, and give everyone a hug for me.Ciao,B.K. Gooch was truly an outstanding and remarkable person. Although we were not related by blood, we did have at least one thing in common; the love for the game of softball. Gooch was like a family member to us. He was always looking out for us, whether it was techniques on the field or reminding us to wear a jacket so that our arms would not get sore. He attended as many games as he could, rain or shine. He also came to some of our softball practices, offering his knowledge to the rest of our team. As some of you may not know, Gooch first started giving pitching lessons right outside of his house, in his cluttered garage. Although his garage was full of clutter, it was also full of love. He cared so much about the game and making his players better that he even invented his own backstop to pitch into, and later moved his lessons to Newfield Borough, so that we could pitch all year long. While teaching there, many more young players were able to experience the energy that was given off by Gooch. We’re sure that everyone would agree that Gooch would do anything for anyone, whether it was sports-related, family-related, or related to life in general. He was always up for it. Gooch never asked for anything except for his girls to try their best. He surely did not teach for the money, but for the common good of the players and for the love of the game. To better the girls and fill them with ambition was his main priority. He never settled for anything less than our best. Even though Gooch was a very knowledgeable man, he tended to forget and mix up our names on a daily basis. He had silly techniques such as using his hat as a boundary line and pushing us to enhance our speed. He would randomly give us a call or stop over our houses just to say hello and see how we were. We could essentially sit there for hours and talk about everything. Having the opportunity to love Gooch, we have leaned so many lessons. We have learned that if you have your heart set on something and you work hard, you will surely achieve your goals. We have also learned to overcome and to live life to the fullest. Don’t let anything or anyone stop you from fulfilling your dreams. Every person who knew him was extremely lucky. Not many people like Gooch are involved in our lives. He not only changed the ways we played the game, but the way we looked at life itself. We greatly appreciate and thank Gooch for everything he has done for us. Before he passed away, softball was just a sport and a field was just the place we played it on. But now, softball is more than just a sport. Softball is memories, dedication, and ambition. When we step onto the field, we are not just representing our team or ourselves. We are representing those who got us there. We are representing Gooch himself.

Although I haven't seen Gooch for many years, my father would see him often in his weekly visits to Newfield. My dad said he always asked about my brother and me, who used to play little league baseball under him back in the the 60's. He was always one of my favorite people and I just thought that it would be nice if I sent this message to let those who knew and loved him so well how much of an effect he must have had on many people.

I just found out this morning that "Gooch" had passed away. My memories of him are some 40 years ago when he coached our little league team in Newfield. I moved from Newfield in 1968, and maybe saw him twice in the past 40 years. My dad would see him quite frequently and Gooch would always ask about me and my brother Matt. He was a great guy and still to this day I always thought about what he did for Newfield and the kids there and always respected him as a great man. Frankie: You and your family are in my prayers. God Bless Your Dad! Mark A. Petti - Mays Landing, NJ

Frank, I would like to express my sincere condolences on the recent passing of your father. Laura and the children also send their thoughts and prayers to you and your family at this difficult time. Although I didn't know your dad, I do know that he was very highly respected throughout this community and profession, and his good works changed the lives of many. You were truly fortunate to have such a man as a model in your life. As you know, it was not that long ago that my own father passed away, so I have some idea of what you and your family are going through. No comfort is quite enough to replace the loss. Please pass my deepest sympathies on to your mother, and brother, and sister, and to all of your father's grandchildren. Very sincerely, Kenny Chann

In the short time that my girls trained with Goochie, he had a postive impact on their lives. They were very sad to hear the news of his passing, but they know that he is in a better place. It really had an impact on us b/c my daughters were most likely the last ones to be coached by goochie. He will be sadly missed by us all. Brian, Cindy, Emily, Olivia and Abigail Simione.

The enthusiasm Gooch showed for Mary in her pitching was something that meant so much to us. He always called her after a game to see how she did - and man - if Mary forgot to call him - Gooch would give it to her good!!! Now that we sit here reflecting on your life, Gooch - we promise to you - that we will share that endless enthusiasm - and your ability to take what you have learned in life....taught us...... and carry it forward into future generations....you, Gooch, will be missed.........and never forgetten. We are so, so fortunate to have had you in our lives. We'll see you again........Staus, Amy, Mary and Rachel.......
