Obituary of Blasina Rivas

Blasina Martinez Rivas, 90, of Vineland, passed away at home on February 29, 2012. She was born March 30, 1921 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico. She married Francisco Torres also from Orocovis and together they had four daughters and six sons. Blasina was a loving mother and grandmother to 33 grandchildren. She went to the community center for many years and she belonged to Divine Mercy Parish. She was named "Mother of the Year" at the Puerto Rican Festival. She liked sewing, ironing and dancing, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Secundina Torres, PR; Francisa Torres, PR; Carmen Torres, Vineland; her sons, Juan Torres, Vineland; Jose Torres, PR; Santiago Torres, Vineland; Benito Torres, New Castle, DE; Hermogenes Torres, Vineland; Raul Torres, Vineland; Her 33 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Francisco in 1999 and her daughter, Ana Elba Torres Lopez. A Funeral Home Visitation will be held on Monday from 10am to 1pm followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
