Louis Amico

Obituary of Louis A. Amico

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Lou, "Wine Man" Amico, of Buena Vista Township. He died peacefully in his sleep with family by his side. Lou was a husband, father, grandfather, mentor, and fun, dependable friend who`s sense of adventure was endless as he firmly believed that "we serve time on earth to help each other and to have fun." He began his career working at Firestone in Norristown, PA, where he lived, and married Joyce. Lou was called to serve in the Air Force in the Viet Nam War. After which, he came back to Vineland, followed his vision and created, owned, and operated Southern Steel Fabricators of NJ, with his wife`s loving support .He enjoyed fishing, driving his team of Percherons, snowmobiling, white water rafting, traveling, skiing, and making the BEST homemade wine! When he retired, he oversaw custom furniture building in his daughter`s business. If someone had a crazy idea, he was ALL-IN! Lou was a pilot and studied both German and Italian. He was a member of The Fortescue Anglers, VAA, The Fifth Ward, and The North Italy Club. His greatest loves were his family, his friends and EATING! During his 80 years he has shared in and touched the lives of others in countless, unique ways. Lou was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Joyce Anna (Gonda) Amico; parents Sam and Ann Amico; Brother Peter Louis Amico; and his sister Fran Martin. Broken hearted survivors include Dave and Sherri (Amico) Cross, Grandson David, Sammy and Whiskey. Lou`s remaining sisters include Bessie Andrews, Connie Souder, Louise Vastano, and Rosalie Sauro along with their family members. Heartfelt thanks to Bayada Hospice, especially Patty and John who gave Dad a most compassionate, respectful transition with unending support. As many are aware, Dad withdrew during his last months. He wished to be remembered as the man who did it all and who lived each day to the fullest, the one that was always available to lend a hand. His final request was for remaining friends not to be saddened by his new adventure but to remember fun times with him. Thus, respectfully, all services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor his memory may be sent to Atlantic County Bayada Hospice or St Jude`s Children`s Hospital. ARRANGEMENTS are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360 To send online condolences and memories please visit our website at www.RONEFUNERALSERVICE.com
