I am so sorry to read of the passing of Miss Hopkins! I was in her class at Lake School and have many memories of all of the activities we participated in during my time with her. I had Miss Hopkins for 3rd grade and I fondly remember our French lessons on a “giant” TV she wheeled into the classroom! I loved learning the French language! Miss Hopkins surprised us with French berets custom made with rainproof material called Zepel. I was so excited! She even took a small group of about five of us in her car to Glassboro State College where we performed a French dialogue to an audience of professors! That was so exciting!! She liked our class so much that she decided to be the 4th grade teacher the next year so we would have her for two years! I wish we had taken class pictures at that time. After graduating from Glassboro State College I became a teacher in Vineland and worked with her niece, Nicole when she worked at Winslow School. The memories and lessons during my time with Miss Hopkins will be fondly remembered forever!! May she rest in peace! Sincerely, Louise Recchio DiBiase

I have wonderful memories of my third grade year at Lake School. Miss Hopkins was my teacher, and I loved being in her class. I will always remember the day she took the entire class outside to see her brand new convertible. She showed us how the roof opened and closed-we were all amazed. To this day I can recite the poem In Flanders Fields by John McCrae which we learned for Memorial Day. She created a warm and kind classroom and touched many lives. My sympathies to her family.

Miss Hopkins was my fourth grade teacher at the Lake School in Franklin Township in 1964. She was a kind and loving teacher and had a true "teacher's intuition". At the start of the school year she named me the first captain of the safety patrol, something that made me very proud. I've thought of that often and realized she knew I needed a little boost of self confidence at the beginning of the new school year. She taught us about our state of New Jersey, and started us on the path of learning a foreign language. I remember our Christmas play, performed in the classroom, and my father coming to see it. I also remember a special Memorial Day ceremony held around the flag pole at the front of the school. Each class placed flowers at the base. I have these wonderful memories because Miss Hopkins was a wonderful teacher. My sincere sympathy goes out to her family at this time.
