Obituary of Joyce Baltus

Joyce Baltus, 85, of Vineland, New Jersey died on February 24, 2024 after an extended illness. She was born in Bridgeton, New Jersey on February 25, 1938 to Louis and Bertha Foss. She lived in Vineland and married Cyrus Baltus in 1958. She is survived by Cyrus and their three children, Marissa, Michele and Louis and five grandchildren, Mikayla, Shoshana and Gabriella, and Brianna and Adina. Joyce and Cy met and fell in love in 1956, after Cy was discharged from the service. They married and Cy moved from Philadelphia to Vineland to join Joyce's family's business, the iconic Foss and Company on Delsea Drive, where she often assisted during the busy season. Joyce contributed to her community, especially the Jewish community of Vineland through her work at the Jewish Federation, Hadassah, and the Hebrew Women's Benevolent Society. She especially enjoyed her community of seniors and arranged programming, trips and outreach for them. She was instrumental in building a memorial to those that died during the Holocaust with ties to the greater Vineland community at the Alliance Cemetery. She guided the seventh grade curriculum to include a trip to this memorial. A funeral service will be held Monday, February 26, 2024 at 11am from Beth Israel Congregation, 1015 East Park Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Alliance Cemetery, Norma.
