I knew Al through the Agana Navy Flying Club and as a neighbor in Ypaopao Estates housing development on Guam. We both lived on Cunao Street. I always enjoyed talking about aviation and his experience working for Freedom Air and All Nippon Airways on Guam. One thing about Al was that he had no problem talking about a mistake he made during his time flying and then learning about it. Al joins two other flying club birdmen who preceded him, Ed Cochran and Chuck McManus. They are missed and I think of their flying escapades often.

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of "Rookie Driver" Al Dilks. He was a pleasure to work with at Sheppard Bus. Anytime Al was present, everyone stopped to talk with him. My deepest condolences to his family; especially to his beloved wife who he was absolutely devoted to.

I meet Al in San Diego where we were getting our Aviation training before we went overseas. We served together in the same US Navy squadron for the next 3 1/2 years. Ours duties took us far and wide. Al kept us all amused with his common sense, wealth of knowledge,
interpretations of human nature, and his incredbile story telling abilities. Goodbye my friend and shipmate. When they play "Taps", some of the tears will be of joys for having the honor of knowing you. May GOD bless and comfort the families of Alfred Dilks.

I met Al a few years ago at the Fitness Connection when ha was rehabbing from a medical procedure. His friendliness was always there. Al, another Fitness Connection member and myself had a common ailment. Al was supportive, open and positive.
Al enjoyed talking about being an aviator in the Pacific. He had great stories. Important to him now, was focusing on Rieko's needs.
Rest in Peace.

I served with Al in the Navy on Guam and other detachments. Kept in casual contact with him over the years via text messaging, but never had the honor to meet him again upon his return to the states.
Rest in Peace now Stump.

Our Cousin, who shared the love and respect of all the ‘old Auntis’ and the few Uncles who raised us all….
He shared the love of the Navy with my Dad… dad was so proud that Roy and Alfred served….
Al’s love for his wife was shining through him always….his last meeting with her must have been magical for him.
He loved and was loved his entire life….we will miss you Stumpie

Stump and I met at the barracks at Atsugi Japan and stayed long time friends. We spoke regularly and I actually had dinner with him Sept 16th in Vineland. Many lifetime memories from the Navy in Japan, Guam, and Danang Vietnam to civilian life on Guam, Sunnyvale,Calif, Boston and Seattle. He was my good friend and I will really miss him. He was a lifelong friend and wonderful shipmate. RIP shipmate!

I have known Alfred since our sophomore year at Vineland High School. We lost contact after Graduation & reconnected thanks to Facebook. When Alfred moved back to New Jersey we picked up our friendship where we left off. My husband Ron & I had Alfred over for dinner often, or just to spend the evening with us. It was so great rekindling our friendship. Alfred Rest in Peace my friend. Ron & I will truly miss you.
