Obituary of Ronald G Nicosia
Ronald Gary Nicosia, 75, of Vineland passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, after a brief hospital stay.
Ron was born and raised in Vineland, NJ. A stand-out wrestler and track athlete, he graduated from Vineland High School in 1966. He is a former life guard at the Vineland YMCA and also worked as a lifeguard at Parvin State Park. Ron enjoyed musical theater and was active in multiple productions by the Cumberland Players.
Following his high school graduation, Ronald attended Centenary College (Louisiana) and Northwestern State University of Louisiana where he met the love of his life and future wife of 49 years, Jacquelyn Ann (Janette) Nicosia. Ron graduated from Cumberland County College with a degree in Criminal Justice.
Ronald served the city of Vineland as a patrolman with the Vineland Police Department for 25 years. After his retirement, he worked as a volunteer on the AJ Meerwald Schooner with the Bayshore Discovery Project and worked 10 years at the Vineland Police Academy.
A lifetime fisherman and crabber, Ron enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking and following the activities and adventures of his four children. A musical talent, he played both the accordion and the piano.
Ron is the son of the late Mary (Murphy) Nicosia (Brooklyn, NY) and Ralph Nicosia (Rosenhayn, NJ). He is predeceased by his wife Jacque. Ronald is survived by his daughter Tanya Bruce and husband James, Ina Nicosia, Erin Vogler and husband Paul and his son Alexander. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tara Bruce, Shannon Bruce, Isabella Vogler and Colton Vogler as well as his beloved dog Poncho.
A funeral home visitation will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 1pm to 2pm followed by a memorial service at 2 pm where blessings and speeches by loved ones may be spoken at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland
