Obituary of Thomas A Caterina

On April 16th, 2023, Divine Mercy Sunday the Lord called home another angel Thomas A. Caterina Sr. at the age of 85. A lifelong resident of Vineland, Thomas loved nothing more than his family and friends. The one word that was never in his vocabulary when it came to family and friends was "No." Thomas attended Sacred Heart grammar and high school. After graduation, he went to work as a tool worker at Lab Glass in Vineland. He then moved on to his second career as an investigator for the Cumberland County Board of Social Services where he retired. Thomas' love of all sports could not be denied. He was an outstanding baseball and basketball player in many leagues in Vineland. When he was not playing, he could be found sitting on the sidelines of his children's games and then grandchildren's games. He was president of the East Vineland Little League, Vineland Midget Football League, and the Diamond Social Club where he enjoyed going to the clubs to play cards with the guys. He was predeceased in 2014 by his wife of 56 years, Theresa Marie Caterina, the true love of his life and his parents George Caterina and Mamie (Capano) Caterina. He is survived by his three children Thomas Caterina Jr and his wife Barbara, Brian Caterina and his wife Sherri and Tracy Hatch and her husband Dennis; his sister Beverly Carastro; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Patricia and Richard Putnam. He is survived by nine grandchildren, Ashley Caterina, Corey Caterina and wife Marlaina, Nicole Caterina, Valerie Caterina, Tyler Caterina, Peter Polo, Samantha Caterina, Victoria Caterina, and Amber Caterina and by his 12 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A church visitation will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 10:15am to 12:15pm followed by a funeral mass at 12:30 pm from Christ The Good Shepherd Parish - Church Of Saint Isidore The Farmer, 1655 Magnolia Road, Vineland. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
