I'm sorry, but I was not aware of Ben's passing. I offer my deepest sympathy to his family. He was a kind and friendly man, who I knew as a sports writer covering the Bridgeton Invitational Semi-Pro Baseball Tournament. Ben was a special man and he will be missed.

On behalf of the Hot Stovers Baseball Club of South Jersey and the South Jersey Baseball Hall of Fame my condolences to the Lynch family. Ben’s contributions to South Jersey baseball covered a span of 51 years. As a player at Bridgeton HS, Glassboro State College and South Jersey semi-pro leagues from 1947-1964. His life as an athlete, educator, and contributor led to his induction into our Hall of Fame in 1997. Again, my condolences.

There has never been a person like Ben who has reached out to so many and became friends for life. Never a word of anger or negativity was ever spoken by Ben Lynch. He was so much fun to be around whether it was playing basketball or just being in his company. I have been close friends with Ben for many years. And had the opportunity to travel to Germany and Jamacia with him. Amazing how he could strike up an conversation with someone even in those countries and share knowledge of people they have known. He was one of a kind and will be missed by many. But I am fortunate to have been his friend and experience many wonderful times with him in his lifetime. So too for so many others who met Ben. His Irish smile and wit light up the room. Ben you are a legend and your basketball scoring record at Rowan University will never be broken. God Bless you Ben and thanks for being in my life.

Without Ben Lynch Major League Baseball would not have introduced speed-up rules to the game on this date (March 30, 2023). Ben in 1967 along with Jerry Alden were the two men who led to the creation and operation of the Bridgeton Invitational Semi Pro Baseball Tournament which is where the idea and use of innovative speed up rules were put into play in 1967. Ben was a proud of the city of Bridgeton where he attended high school and went on to a distinguished career asan athlete, coach, teacher and most of all a loving husband, father, grandfather.
Ben was one talented individual who dedicated his life to his community, schools and family. Rest in Peace Ben and thank you for the opportunity to work with you for many years in the city of Bridgeton. My deepest condolences to the family. Bob Rose
