Obituary of Howard Hoffman

Howard Hoffman, 90, passed away on Tuesday, December 13th 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. Howard was born in 1932 to the late Sam and Lillian Hoffman in the Bronx, NY and moved to Vineland in 1937 where he lived most of his life. He moved to Glassboro, NJ in 2011. Howard is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Judy; daughter Ellen Jennings; son David Hoffman (Jacqueline Davis); his two shining lights, grandsons Aaron and Matthew Jennings; brother Sheldon Hoffman; sister-in-law Bonnie Hahn (Peter); several nieces, nephews and cousins. Along with his parents he was predeceased by his in-laws, Meyer and Bertha Silver and brother-in-law Larry Silver (Roberta). He was a graduate of Vineland High School class of 1950. After graduation Howard worked at the Vineland Electric Utility until he entered the military where he served from 1952 to 1954. Following his discharge he attended Glassboro State College and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor's Degree in Middle School Social Science. His first teaching job was at Landis Middle School followed by many years of teaching at Veterans Memorial School. Following his retirement he worked part-time for Beth Israel Congregation during its renovation and for the Chevra Kadisha of Alliance. He also worked part-time as the Assistant Principal at the Beth Israel Hebrew School. He was a member of the Beth Israel Congregation; the Beth Israel Men's Club and the Jewish War Veteran's where he served as Commander for several years as well as other services and charitable organizations. Howard was a family man and always put his family first. He enjoyed college basketball, The Eagles, and was most noted by his friends and family as "Mr. Fix it". Friends may be received at the funeral home on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 12:30pm to 1pm followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in Alliance Cemetery, Norma.
