Obituary of Joan M Smaniotto

Joan Marie Smaniotto (Thurman), 82, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home in Vineland. She had been a patient there for five years. She was a lifetime resident of Vineland, NJ. The wife of the late Anthony V. Smaniotto, Jr., she was born in Vineland on September 18, 1940 and was the daughter of the late John and Dorothy Thurman. Joan and Anthony were married for 55 years at the time of his death. She attended Vineland Public schools and Vineland High School. Joan was a secretary for Sacred Heart Parish and Sacred Heart High School. In later years, she was an insurance underwriter at McClain Heller Insurance, Pladeck Insurance and Biondi Insurance. Joan also represented Sacred Heart on the Diocese Camden School Board. Joan was a longtime member of the Sacred Heart P.T.A. She was also is member of the Parish Finance Committee for several years. She cherished the time spent with her family. Joan, along with Anthony, enjoyed their time with "The Dinner Group" as well. She was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish. She is predeceased by her parents; John and Dorothy (Breckley), sisters Patricia Wojculewski (Henry) and Bonnie Damiani (Joseph) and a grandchild; Kevin J. Smaniotto, Jr., sisters-in-law Gloria Franceschini (Raymond) and Lucille Wobensmith (Earl) and brothers-in-law George Smaniotto (Linda) and Edward Sutter. She is survived by her children Anthony III (Lorrie), Kevin (Brenda), and Nicole Riggione (Jeffrey); her brothers are John and Ronald Thurman; sister-in-law Alice Sutter and brother-in-law Richard Smaniotto (Beverly); grandchildren include Andre Smaniotto, Alexis Durham (Lewis), Ashten Smaniotto, Amanda Mason (Matthew), Cara Mc Cracken (Matthew), Jillian Smaniotto, Sean Riggione, AJ Riggione and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews A church visitation will be held on Wednesday December 7, 2022 from 1pm to 3pm followed by a funeral mass at 3pm from St. Padre Pio Parish-Church of Our Lady of Pompeii, 4680 Dante Avenue, Vineland. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan's memory to N.J.
