Obituary of Barbara Principe

Barbara Principe, 88, of Pittsgrove Township went to be with her husband on March 19, 2021 in her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. Barbara was born in Berlin, Germany to Gunther and Frieda Wortham. She grew up with her parents and brother on a chicken farm in Pittsgrove Twp. In 1950, at the age of 18 she married her soul mate, Dominick Principe. In 1956, Barbara and Dom moved to Newfield, where they raised their nine children and made many lifetime friends. Barbara lived a modest life and spent most of her time raising her children. Barbara cared about everyone and always found an extra bed for anyone in need. The kitchen table was always full with neighborhood kids that called the Principe family home. She loved animals and was known in Newfield as the person to call if a stray was found. Barbara had a generous heart, always willing to help anyone in need, even at the expense of herself. As sweet as she was, Barbra was also a fighter, evidenced by her drive to regain her family heritage. Later in life, her dogs Buddy and Gia were her best friends. She thoroughly enjoyed vacationing and traveled most of world, as well as, much of the United States. Her favorite destinations were Las Vegas and Puerto Rico, visiting each many times. She really enjoyed her Sunday trips to the Casinos with her husband Dom and friend Barbara. In 2007, Barb and Dom moved to their dream home in Pittsgrove Township and lived there until the time of their death. Sitting on their deck watching the wildlife and listening to their pond was one of their favorite past times. Barbara died of a broken heart after losing her husband Dom of 70 years in January and now, reunited, is at peace. Barbara is survived by their children, Patricia Vess, Donna Scarpa, Michael Principe Sr., Terri Giordano, Dominick Principe, Wayne Principe, Andrea Glaser & Diane Cavagnaro; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, as well as, her nephew and wife Marty and Amy Wortham. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Dominick; daughter Barbara Ann Singer; grandson Joseph Singer; brother Martin Wortham; and her parents Gunther and Frieda Wortham. The family will be having a Celebration of Life for both Barbara and Dominick at Villa Fazzolari on Route 40 in Buena on April 10 from 1-3 pm for family and friends.
