I just learned that Terry passed back in 2011. I always wondered about her and her family.
I just found a note in my grandmother's things that I saved from when she passed in 2001. I found a note from Terry that was so very sweet. Terry used to be my grammy (Mary Happekotte) and my mom (Shirley Happekotte's hairdresser back in Vineland, New Jersey. Terry came out to visit my grandma and I back in 1989 and told me that I had a brother in Los Angeles. Thanks to Terry, I met my father and my half-siblings and it happened at a time in my life when I needed to meet them. Terry gave me the guts to "go for it".... and I was so blessed to have my father in my life for over 25 years. Terry and my grammy were best friends for many years back in New Jersey. I am so sorry to hear that Terry passed. Her and my grammy are raising hell with my mom up in Heaven! Bless you all... Love Vicki

Atlantic City, The Hilton, Ocean Villa condominiums, & Terry Garro. All names we know that will stand a long, long time. It was 8 or 9 years ago I had the privilege of meeting Terry. I came to purchase my first condo and was greeted by her and the realtor at Ocean Villa Condominiums. I can remember the first thing that Terry said to me, “take your shoes off before going in, or my daughter will have a fit should you track in sand. I knew at that moment I was going to purchase that condo at Ocean Villa’s. I immediately became friends with Terry and our friendship never stopped growing. At times we would fight like cats & dogs and a day later it was like nothing happened. At times she was a mother, counselor, advisor, but most of all a dear, dear friend. We could talk about anything to each other and I could count on her for anything as she could count on me. She would give you the shirt off her back and do without, as this was Terry. Through the years when I would frequent Atlantic City alone we would share dinners together at the Hilton, sit side by side for hours playing video poker and laugh the night away. There was one New Years Eve that I spent with her and her friends and had the pleasure of dancing with her. When I would pass by her door in the morning on my way to the beach she would always invite me in for coffee and cake. And if she didn’t have the cake she would offer me breakfast. And how many times when I came home from the beach in the afternoon I would find on my door knob a container of home made gnocchi’s, sausage & peppers, or clams and spaghetti. Yes Terry was a lot of fun and she loved life and lived it to the fullest. Never sitting still and always on the go, and always thinking of someone else. Besides all of this what I loved most about Terry was that she didn’t take any crap from anyone, not even me. She stood tall for whatever she believed in and would fight to the finish, usually winning. What can I possibly say about this great woman that all of you don’t already know? Recently someone said that Terry was Ocean Villa Condominiums, and they were right. So right we should have the name changed to Villa Theresa Condominiums, or Ocean Garro Condominiums. What a tribute that would be in her honor. I’m so happy that I had the opportunity to speak with Terry one day before she left us. I told her that I loved her and she answered back “I love you too. To say that Terry will be missed would be an understatement. I already miss you terribly, Terry. Love, Tony D.
