Obituary of Barry Bayuk Levin

Mary M. Burton, 92, died peacefully at home on Monday, 25 July. She was born and raised in Vineland, the daughter of Jane and Jack Raffaelli. Mary graduated Sacred Heart High School, Class of 1941. She married the love of her life, the late Edgar Burton, on15 April, 1943. Mary served as the office secretary at Sacred Heart Grammar School in the late 1950's. After the founding of Saint Francis of Assisi Parish in Vineland in 1961, Mary was hired as secretary for the new parish and school. She will be most fondly remembered in the front office of the rectory fielding calls, writing Mass cards and keeping all things running with warmth, but with a determination that managed to get the job done no matter what the challenge. Retirement in 1986 was a little too quiet for Mary, so she began working as bookkeeper and secretary for Vineland Anesthesia Associates for several years more. Mary was predeceased by her husband, Edgar in 2010. She leaves to cherish her memory her two children, Reverend Monsignor John H. Burton, Pastor of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish in Vineland and Sister Kathleen Burton, S.S.J., Co-Director of Faith and Family Life Formation for the Diocese of Camden. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, her dear friends Rose D'Ottavio and Andy Zukovsky, and her newest collie, Bailey (aka Sheppy). Mary's Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Christ the Good Shepherd Parish on Saturday, 30 July at Sacred Heart Church-the church where she was married. The funeral Mass will begin at 11 o'clock. Her viewing will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Friday evening from 6:30 until 8:30. During the evening, a Vigil Service will be celebrated beginning at 7:30. The viewing will resume immediately after the service and continue until 8:30. On Saturday morning, the viewing will continue from 9:15 until 11:45, concluding fifteen minutes before the funeral Mass. Mary will be buried in the family plot at Sacred Heart Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
