Obituary of Sr. M. Francesca Spaziani

Sister M. Francesca Spaziani, a member of the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, Villa Rossello, Newfield, NJ, went to her eternal rest on Monday, July 18, at Cooper Hospital, Camden, NJ. Sister Francesca, formerly named Ida, born in Ozone Park, New York, was the daughter of the late Francesco and Maria (Bianchi) Spaziani of Ozone Park, NY. She entered the Congregation of the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, in Newfield, NJ on Dec.8, 1949 and professed her Vows on August 16, 1951. Having obtained her Bachelor's degree in elementary education from College Misericordia, Dallas, PA, Sister Francesca taught in schools staffed by her religious order in Springfield and Milford, MA; Dunkirk, NY; Berkeley Heights, Newfield, Vineland, and Millville, NJ; in Old Forge, Hazleton, Hershey, Steelton, and York PA. In recent years, as a resident at Villa Rossello Provincial House in Newfield, NJ she served her religious community in numerous ways and most especially as a loving and attentive caregiver and advocate for the sisters who were ill and elderly. As a religious, Sister Francesca was very dedicated and faithful in the fulfillment of all her religious duties. In addition to her parents, Sister Francesca was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony, her sisters Concetta, and Domenica who was also a member of a religious community, and her beloved niece Mary Koodish. In addition to her religious community, surviving are her nephews Larry Kinsman of Manchester, NH, Frank Spaziani of NY, nieces Loretta Kelley of Shelton, CT, Marie Marinacci and Lucy DiMolla, and sister-in-law Rose Spaziani of Floral Park, NY, as well as several grand nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Villa Rossello Chapel, Newfield at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 21. Prior to the Mass a Visitation will take place in the Chapel from 9:30 to before the Mass. Burial will follow at Pietà Cemetery on the grounds of Villa Rossello. Donations in memory of Sister Francesca may be made to the Daughters of Mercy, Villa Rossello, 1009 Main Road, Newfield, NJ 08344. Arrangements are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, Vineland, NJ.
