Obituary of Manuel "Manny" Woldar

Manuel Woldar (Manny), age 97, passed away at Lincoln Specialty Care Center in Vineland, New Jersey on March 13, 2015. He was born in Russia on June 10,1917 to Rebecca and Barney Woldar. The family immigrated to America in 1923 and established B. Woldar and Sons, a kosher meat market. Manny graduated from Vineland High School in 1937 and went into the family business as a butcher. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in 1940 and was stationed in Ireland in 1942. On a four day pass he traveled to England and met his future bride, June Smith, whom he married in London, England in 1945. While in the U. S. Army Air Force, Manny flew 25 missions over Germany on the Flying Fortress Bomber. He was awarded from the State of New Jersey the distinguished Service Medal for service in air operations during World War ll in the European African Middle Eastern Theater of Operations. Manny was a Technical Sergeant when he was honorably discharged from the service in 1945. Upon returning home, he rejoined the family business until 1973 when the business closed. After that he worked for his brother, Seymour at Bell Tone Hearing Aids. Manny had a deep devotion to his faith, family and friends. His family was a founding member of Beth Israel Congregation in Vineland. He was a member of the Jewish War Veterans, Beth Israel Men's Club, Chevra Kadisha and a Board Member of Beth Israel Congregation He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, June. He has 3 children, Steven(Lynn) Woldar, Ruth(Donald) ube and Fern Woldar. He cherished his five Grandchildren Clifford Woldar, Nicole(Gedge) Rosson, Michelle(Brandon) Propper, Jillien(Jared) Meier and Allison Brewster. Also, seven adored great granchildren. Predeceassed by loving parents Rebecca and Barney Woldar, sister Laura Zahn and brother Seymour Woldar. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beth Israel Synagogue or Ascend Hospice Care.
