Obituary of Agnes Healy

Agnes (Wagner) Healy, of Hammonton and formerly of Newfield, passed away peacefully at the Heritage Assisted Living on Monday, January 12, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 98. Born on November 9, 1916 in Camden, Agnes was predeceased by her husband of 68 years Donald M. Healy, Sr. along with her sisters Bertha Hoffman and Margaret Trainor. She was the devoted mother of Donald, Jr. (Mary Ellen) of Franklinville and Barbara Santilli (Pete) of Hammonton; loving grandmother of Mimi Hall (Jim), Kelly Ambrosino (Biagio), Matthew Healy, Kristin Santilli and Stephen Santilli (Nancy); loving great-grandmother of JR and Megan Hall, Christopher and Lilyanna Martucci, Antonio Ambrosino and Evangeline Santilli. She is also survived by her brother Frank Wagner of Vineland, sisters-in-law Charlotte Fiore and Dolores Campanella, and numerous nieces and nephews. Agnes was a longtime resident of Newfield and Vineland. In her early years, she resided in Franklinville, graduating with honors from the Franklinville Grammar School and from Clayton High School in 1934 as valedictorian. She completed the Course of Business at the former Philadelphia Business College. She was employed for 8 years at the former Pennsylvania Company for Insurance on Lives and Granting Annuities and for 4 years as the billing clerk at Marshall Service Company in Newfield. Agnes retired in 1979 after 22 years as an Elementary School Secretary at the Edward R. Johnstone School in Vineland. She was a former member of the New Jersey Education Secretaries Association, Vineland Educational Secretaries Association, and a Committee member of the Clayton High School Alumni Association. She was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Church in Newfield for over 60 years and an extremely devout Catholic who prayed the rosary many times daily. Agnes enjoyed numerous crafts including sewing at an early age as a member of the 4H Club and receiving an Honorable Mention Award from the National Singer Sewing Contest, embroidery, counted cross stitch, and woodworking. Most recently, Agnes enjoyed playing bingo, watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and was a faithful supporter of the Philadelphia Phillies. A Chapel Visitation will be on Saturday, January 17, 2015 from 9am to 11am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am at the Villa Rossello Chapel, 1008 Main Road, Newfield , NJ.
