Obituary of Dorothy Franks

Dorothy "Dot" (Mongelluzzo) Franks, 97, of Minotola, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014 at Genesis in Millville, NJ. She was the eldest of 12, born and raised on her parents` farm in Malaga. She was predeceased by her husband, Lou in 1980 with whom she owned several bar and restaurant establishments, the last being Dot and Lou`s Supper Club. They were members of the Retail Liquor Dealers Association. She was a member of the Moose and Catholic Daughters of America. Dot was an incredible cook, but also enjoyed gardening and the casinos. She volunteered at the Polls for many years. She and her husband hosted meetings throughout the years at their establishment for the Exchange Club, Jaycees, and the Republican Party of Buena Boro. She is survived by her son, Louis Franks Jr. and his wife Joan, her daughter Jeanne Pozzobon and her husband Edmond of Minotola, NJ, and her son Fred Franks and his wife Evelyn of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida. Grandchildren are Vicki Weirich of Marietta, CA, Craig Franks and wife Donna of Mays Landing, Kimberly Battelini and husband Anthony of Minotola, John Pozzobon of Stratford, NJ, David Pozzobon and wife Julie of Vineland, Steven Pozzobon of Vineland, Carolyn Franks of Laguna Beach, CA and Sondra Ulbrich and husband Roger of Miami Beach, FL. Great-grandchildren are Stacy Lore of Marietta, CA, Mark and Matthew Franks, Anthony Battelini and wife Katy of Mays Landing, Kaitlin Nocan and husband Eric of Dividing Creek, Wade Battelini, and Michael Pozzobon of Minotola. Great-great grandchildren are Anthony Jr. and Gianna Battelini. Brothers are Sam Mongelluzzo of Malaga, Nick Mongelluzzo and wife Arlene of Newfield, and James Mongelluzzo and wife Loretta of Vineland. Sisters are Angie Scarpa and Jeanette Ochetto and husband Donald of Vineland. Franco Franchi, a cousin from Italy spent a good part of his growing teenage years under Dot`s care. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Dot was predeceased by her brothers; Willie, Lee, Alfred & Michael Mongelluzzo and her sisters, Loretta Caporale and Rita Barr A church visitation will be on Tuesday, Dec. 9th from 9:15 to 10:15 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Michael`s Church, Minotola.
