Growing up in the 1940s & 1950s,I was a few years younger (31/2) than Patty and I respected her as the toughest girl I ever knew.At Me and my younger brother Sam spent a lot of time at Grannys where Patty was raised.
Patty liked to play with us and would often wreastle, play chase and mostly boy-type games. I never saw her play with dolls. Many times her and my older brother, Gary (71), would get into some intense knock-down fights and Patty could hold her own with Gary, who was the toughest kid in the neighborhood. She always had cats and/or dogs that someone just dropped off and she loved them dearly. When we moved from Beckley (1960), I never saw Patty again until I was married and living behind Mom (Nora) & Dad (Roy). Her and Pete would visit often, especially after the birth of her kids Gary & Nora. Patty became a very gentile soul dedicated to her children, however, underneath was a fierce warrior. I'll bet her kids knew. Rest in peace, my cousin, Patty. Love you forever.
