It was great privilege to work Jim for nearly 18 years. He was also a friend and a hunting companion at times. Jim spoke his mind, but was always fair and considerate. He loved his Prowler boats and fishing, and his skill and love for glasswork led him to produce some very beautiful weights. I am the proud possessor of several sizes of Jims weights, and they are among my most treasured holdings as are the memories of my many years of working with anknowing Jim and his two brothers. He was a hero and a true gentleman and a great friend. I'm sure he is still missed by all who knew him.

So sad to hear of Jim's passing, one of the two nicest gentlemen I have ever known. I'm sure he is in heaven catching all those fish he loved to catch. My sincere condolences to Nontas, the other gentleman and long time friend, and the rest of the Kontes family. I know his presence will be sorely missed.

Dear Kontes' family,
Harold and I would like you to know how grateful we are that our grandson Parker had the privilege of knowing Jim. On their fishing trips together, Parker learned many life lessons from Jim's words of wisdom. In Jim, Parker had the model of a man who had great love for his family, his country, and his heritage. We know this experience will remain with Parker well beyond his ten years of age. We, too, are richer for having known Jim and will speak of him often. "May his memory be eternal."
