Ernest R. Bencie, 84 earned his prize of eternal life, Sunday April 6, 2014, peacefully at home with his loving family at his side.
Born March 18, 1930 to Teresa and Nicholas Bencie, he attended elementary school and High School in Windber Pa. After a tour in Korea with the United States Marines, Ernest attended St. Joseph School of Nursing where he earned his R.N. and subsequent certificate in Anesthesia. It is also where he met and married his "best" girl Mary Anne (Cianfrano).
After brief employments in Lancaster and NY, Ernest and his wife Mary Anne settled in Vineland where he enjoyed his career as a Nurse Anesthetist with Newcomb Hospital. He enjoyed Tennis outings with the O.R. crew and took great pride in taking care of Vineland's patients. After retirement "Ern" enjoyed golfing competitions with the "senior tour" and golf tournaments with his family foursomes. Ern also enjoyed his years as a "snow bird" spending time in Ft. Meyers with his wife Mary Anne and his Florida friends. He always enjoyed his Steelers, Pirates, cooking, tennis, golf, and horse racing. He enjoyed remaining involved with his grandchildren and their competitions, always offering his advice to all who needed it.
