Dear Louise and Family, Please accept my deep sympathy on the passing of a good friend and colleague. I probably knew and worked with Art for nearly 50 years. I remember when he was employed by EIC to be the director of SEIMC. He went from that position to be the director of EIC/EIRC. He led the center into new and exciting international and national programs. During one of my terms as director I was fortunate to have Art as my Assistant Director, a position more important than the title indicates. He literally ran the center while I concentrated on relationships with Trenton.
Socially, I recall sitting on the deck in Fortescue watching the sun set and enjoying a beverage. I ,also, recall the family friendships that emerged within the staff of EIC/EIRC. As Art and I have said before, it was great that two guys from Bridgeton had a degree of success in their chosen careers.
Art made a good reputation in South Jersey and he will be remembered for his accomplishments.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Rainear Family at this time of great loss. Over the 35 plus years that I knew Art I considered him a colleague and friend. He was a great educator who was always looking for ways to expand and improve the delivery of educational services for students and teachers. Despite changes that occurred within the Department of Ed and the relationship with ERIC, Art and I always looked for ways to work together. Although our paths have not crossed in the past few years, I know that he loved his family and friends and really enjoyed his fishing.
I will not be able to attend the funeral service, but I want to share my thoughts as you celebrate the life of a very special man.

I was shocked and greatly saddened to learn today about Art's passing. I looked up to Art as the Director of EIRC, where I worked with him for almost 20 years. He led the Center with kindness and strength. Few things seemed to rile him and he cared about the staff and saw us as family. Art will always hold a special place with the CAP project. I personally will miss him and extend my sympathy to his wife and family.

It is with sincere sympathy I send this note to the Rainear family. Art was a true leader and family friendly Executive Director during the years I knew and worked with him at EIRC. I was hired in 1990 as Child Care Coordinator in SRCCRC. The memory of him playing with my child when I had to bring her to work will forever be in my heart. He had a caring spirit. Thank you for sharing Art with me and my family. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to Louise and the Rainear family. In 1990 I was hired by Art to work at EIRC. Art was willing to take a chance on me. He was Executive Director for my first (eight?) years at EIRC (I'm still there). I will always be grateful to Art for taking a chance on me. His decision changed my life and the lives of many, many other people across New Jersey, the U.S., Canada, Russia and beyond through the work I've done.... a story that continues to unfold.
Art had many talents but the one that for me rose above all else was that he cared deeply about people. Beyond that, his wise and gentle leadership is a major reason why EIRC is still here today.
I, and no doubt many others who worked with Art, will always remember and honor him.

Dr. Rainear,
My deepest sympathy to you and your mother on the loss of your father/husband. While I didn't know him well, our paths crossed a few times at Glassboro State College and EIRC. At the college it was with the "lunch bunch." He was a great guy.
