Obituary of Ramona Hernandez

Ramona Hernandez, aged 90, died peacefully on December 19th, 2013 at home surrounded by family and friends. Ramona, known to her friends and family as Mama Moncha, was born August 30, 1923, in Camuy, Puerto Rico to Pablo Santiago and Ceferina Velazquez Roman. Ramona was one of 10 siblings. In 1957 she was reunited with the love of her life Mr. Vicente Hernandez and in 1960 she joined him in holy matrimony at Our Lady of Victories Parish. Together they raised five children. Family and friends were Ramona's passion and delight. Ramona was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Victories Parish where she met many of her dearest friends. She was a member of the Legion of Mary Society, Sacred Heart Society of Women, and a state Cursillista. She voluntarily provided care for the sick in her community. She loved to entertain and frequently had garden parties at her house. As a past time, Ramona would enchant others with her riddles and rhymes and witty humor unique to her personality. The latest garden party was this past summer when she celebrated her 90th birthday. Ramona is preceded in death by her parents, Pablo and Ceferina; her husband, Vicente; and two daughters, Iraida and Elizabeth Hernandez. Ramona is survived by her daughter, Carmen Hernandez; sons, Jose and Vincente Hernandez; five grandchildren, Lizzette Allen from Fort Riley, Kansas, Ariel Hernandez, Charisse White and Bruce White from Bell Aire, Ohio, and Christina Hernandez; and three great grandchildren, Alyiah, Kai'ry and Na'Lei Allen from Fort Riley, Kansas and a number of other relatives and close friends. Ramona requested a private Christian burial and funeral. Memorial services will be conducted at 12 PM on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Our Lady of Victories Parish in Landisville. A graveside service will be conducted at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Vineland following the mass. All are invited to return to Our Lady of Victories Parish cafeteria to celebrate Ramona's life in a gathering in her honor.
