Obituary of James W Reeder

James Wesley "Wes" Reeder, 71, of Vineland, NJ died after a brief illness on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. He was the beloved husband of Betty. He was born in Wilmington, North Carolina and spent his childhood there before moving to Vineland. Before his retirement, Wes was an alarm installer for AFA Security. Prior to that, he worked for AFG Security here in Vineland and he also worked briefly for Joffe Lumber. In his younger years he was a talented mechanic and enjoyed many hours working in his garage. He was a huge fan of NASCAR racing and his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr. When his daughter, Darlene was younger, they spent many a Sunday crabbing on the boat in places like Turkey Point and Dividing Creek. Years later, Wes restored that very same boat so that his daughter and son-in-law could continue this tradition with his grandchildren. Wes was a very generous person and would easily give you his last dime, if needed. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Cari Reeder of Waterford, NJ; daughter and son-in-law Darlene & Brian Asselta of Vineland; grandchildren, Avery, Madeline, Max, Marlena, Joy, Vincent, and Noelle. Also his sister, Maryetta of North Carolina and his constant companion, dog, Savannah. He was predeceased by his parents, James Johnson Reeder and Hazel Virginia Hobbs and his son, James Edward Reeder. A Funeral Home Visitation will be held on Monday evening, November 25 from 6pm to 8pm followed by a Funeral Service at 8:00 pm from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland.
