Obituary of Sarah Van Hook

Sarah (Scarpa) Van Hook, 89, lifelong resident of Newfield passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Susan on Monday, August 5, 2013. First and foremost, Sarah was a family person, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and a great friend. She was loved by many and will be missed by anyone who knew her. She was the daughter of the late Lawrence & Susan (Austino) Scarpa and the wife of 55 years to the late Anthony Van Hook. Sarah was active in the St. Rose PTA and was a member of St Rose of Lima Church. She served as a Newfield Council woman, she was involved with the Newfield Savings & Loan Association and the well respected and honest owner of Van Hook Insurance Agency for over 40 years. Sarah's generosity extended to not only her family but to anyone in need. her greatest pleasures included time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed her home cooking, sewing, gardening, reading, knitting and her birds.
