Obituary of Anthony Edward Smith

Anthony "Tony" E. Smith, 51, died suddenly at his mother's home in Vineland, NJ, on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013. Tony was born on March 7, 1961 to the late John H. Smith and Nettie (Rambone) Benner. He was a graduate of Vineland High School. He enjoyed collecting classic cars and loved music. He had a great love of family and community. He was extremely dedicated to helping animals in need through his service to the Cumberland County SPCA and the PetSmart Charities Adoption Program. He was actively involved in fundraisers and collection efforts. He was recognized for his efforts with the CCSPA Volunteer of the Year award in 2009. Anthony was predeceased by his father, the late John H. Smith, his sister, Nancy Jean Smith, and his brother, Murray G. Smith. He is survived by his lifelong partner, Peter C. Forcinito, of Cherry Hill (formerly of Vineland); stepfather and mother, Larry and Nettie (Rambone) Benner, of Vineland; adopted son and nephew, Vincent D. Smith, of Vineland; brother, John H. Smith, Jr., and his wife Sandy(Stevenson) of Buena; a sister, Judy A. (Smith) Piccione, of Lake Gilman, Elk Twp.; nieces Katherine (Burk) Crespo and husband, Moises, of Vineland, and Jennifer Smith, of Buena; a nephew, John H. Smith III, of Buena; and a great nephew, Antonio Agustin Crespo. He is also survived by his miniature daschund, Maxie. Tony was employed by Novick Auto Mall in Bridgeton for over 33 years. He was a valued member of the staff and had a large and loyal following. He often went above and beyond the normal scope of his duties to ensure his customers' satisfaction. He made many friends as a result of his tireless commitment to his work. Anthony was a selfless and humble giver of love. He always helped those in need, often placing the wishes of others before his own. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the community which he served.
