While I did not know Karen very well, I find myself being inspired by her through the little interaction I did have with her and the stories I have heard about her over this past week. I wish I could have spent more time with her. What a wonderful example of a Christian woman, wife and mother. The grace with which Vince, Karly and Steven are handling such an amazingly impossible situation is an example for our whole community and a great tribute to Karen. The thoughts and prayers of the Cardona and Collins families are with the Scully and Trovarelli families.

I didn't know Karen well but I wanted to share what I remember most about her because I feel it speaks volumes. I met Karen during a family party at her home years ago, I had a young daughter with some emotional problems who would get withdrawn and sulky in social settings. Anyway during this party Karen was so busy hostessing and keeping everything running smoothly. But when I went to check on my daughter there was Karen on bended knee with her arms around my little one making sure she had her soda, cake, or whatever. She had the kindness of an angel for every child. The world has lost a wonderful woman. Trish Chance

Dear Vince, I don't know if you remember us but our children have been going to school together for years. Our daughter,Eliza(Hunt) with Karly and our son Ben, with Steven.I didn't know Karen well.I met her many times at school functions doing the"mom thing";field trips, book fairs,sports,ect..She always had a smile and a kind word. I remember when Ben was on your basketball team and he gave you and Karen a hard time.In fact he was rude to Karen and later I had him apologize. She was so kind to him and gave him a big hug and let him know it was okay.I was always very touched by her sincerity and gentleness. Eliza is very fond of Karly and always comments on what a good person she is. That is a great compliment, especially at their age when kids can be so mean and empathy is rare.Such a quality in Karly is a gift from her Momma I am certain. We are just saying our goodbyes to a loved one and so,to some degree,we can understand your sadness. But not really. May God bless you, Karly, Steven and your whole family. I'm sure Karen rests with angels. With deepest regards, Dave,Andrea,Eliza,Ben and Max Hunt

To Mr.+Mrs. Scully,Mr. Vince Travoreli+family. You don't know me, but I knew Karen way back in the early eighties when she was dating one of my friends, Vincent Mancuso. They attended my wedding together in january of 1983.I think Vince and Karen were together about 5 years or so, and during that time, I got to know her as everything that is said about her in the paper. She was kind, generous, fun, witty, just great to be around. We went on many motorcycle rides together, and had many great times just hanging out with each other.I last saw Karen shortly after Vince and her broke up, that had to be in the mid to late eighties. I sometimes wondered how her life had turned out, and where she was.It sounds like she grew up to be quite a woman. I knew that she would. I am heart broken to learn of her passing, I wish she could have met my two girls and us her husband and chidren. My oldest daughter sarah, is a senior at the college of william+mary in virginia, and my youngest daughter will be a freshman at u of maryland in january. My wife, Lee is also a nurse. I was not surprised to learn that's what Karen chose for a career. Although I have not seen or spoke to Karen in over 20 years, I never forgot her. She was that kind of person, as you know. I will be digging through my boxes of pictures to see if I can find any of Karen and our group of friends way back when we were young. My wife and I send our deepest condolenses to all of Karen's family and friends. I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning to the end. He noted that the first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears, But he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years. For that dash represents all the time that she spent alive on earth And now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own, the cars, the house, the cash, What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard; are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left that can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough to consider what's true and real And always try to understand the way other people feel. And be less quick to anger and show appreciation more And love the people in our lives like we've never loved before. If we treat each other with respect and more often wear a smile, Remembering that this special dash might only last a little while. So, when your eulogy is being read with your life's action's to rehash Would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent your dash? .....You WOULD be proud Karen, you were an amazing woman - mother wife, daughter, sister and friend. I will see you again, girlfriend...Amy

Occasionally, we are graced with the presence of an earth bound Angel. They are unable to stay with us for long, but while they do, they bring unprecedented joy and happiness to all they touch. While they are here, we bask in their goodness and marvel at their contribution to the world. When they leave, we are left with the devastation that comes with losing such a wonderful being...but we must remember...the earth bound Angels are not ours to keep. They are ours to enjoy, learn from, and behold until they return home.
