Obituary of Catherine Trasferini

Catherine (Mattioli) Trasferini, 91, died Saturday December 15 at home surrounded by her family. Catherine was born on Feb. 8, 1916 to Ugo & Sadie Mattioli. She was raised in the heart of Landisville & lived right next door to the Mattioli family owned bakery. She grew up with one brother, Peter & many Mattioli family cousins whose lives intertwined with each other forming a lasting bond. Catherine graduated from Vineland High School in 1934. She moved to Washington DC for a short while where she attended Notre Dame Catholic School to study business . She also worked for the Treasury Department. Catherine returned home & was married to Joseph Trasferini on June 22, 1938. She was the office manager & decorated cakes in the family business, Mattioli Bakery, one of the largest bakeries in South Jersey. After the bakery was sold, Catherine & Joe opened Trasferini Oil Company, where she was the office manager for 25 years until it was sold in 1985. Catherine was baptized, confirmed & married in Our Lady of Victories Church, where she later served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She attended Mass every morning & assisted with the distribution of Holy Communion daily. Catherine was the 1999 recipient of the Recognition Award for her outstanding service to Our Lady of Victories Church. She was a member of the St. Rita Society & member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Vineland Moose Lodge.
