Bob was like a father to me. He had a great sense of humor, was a great cook and a pinochle player that was second to none. I’ve known Bob and Betty for almost 20 years. They were neighbors to the Dixons when my husband was growing up. They would tell many stories about the parties they would have and when he played the drums, everyone was impressed. When Mrs. Dixon passed away, we somehow grew closer and the dinners would be about every month. They were great hosts whenever we would come over and Bob and Betty always tried to please and impress whoever was the dinner guest. When Betty and Bob came out to visit in 2004, it was a tragic time because Betty suffered a stroke in our home that Friday night when visiting us from Arizona. I think we were pretty fortunate that Bob was able to stay with us until he was able to bring Betty back home to Arizona. Bob was never a bother; we almost didn’t know he was there, except for the fact he would bring goodies from various farms or stores he would visit. He introduced me to my first squash….baked with brown sugar…ahh the memories. When Betty passed away, we once again were fortunate to have him as a house guest and he always made sure that he was not a bother, but the goodies would show up and you knew they were from him. Bob was a class act and one of a kind. Bob had a great family and I hope that I can continue to be a part of them. They have more memories than I, but the ones I have will never be forgotten.

His visits to the library were so missed when he moved, but he would e-mail regularly with jokes and descriptions of what he was cooking and we looked forward to his visits back in Deptford. He remembered us with magazines, newspaper clippings and the most delicious oranges!!He is once again with his Liz, I know he is happy.
