Obituary of Anna W. Leshay

Rone Funeral Service 856-691-4222 Anna (Wolchasta) Leshay, 90 went to be with the Lord on Wednesday November 3, 2010. She joins her beloved late husband Samuel Sr., and daughters Patricia and Nancy, in Heaven. Anna was a Faithful Roman Catholic and devout parishioner of St. Rose of Lima church in Newfield. Anna, a longtime Newfield resident was born in Philadelphia on September 15, 1920 to Ukrainian parents. Her family immigrated back to the Ukraine when she was an infant but she returned to the U.S. on her own as a young adult to seek new opportunities. In 1946 Anna married Samuel. She was a co-founder of Leshay Farms in Newfield. Anna's contributions to the operation were numerous. She was meticulous and passionate, laboring long hours in the packinghouse to ensure all work was done correctly. She never fully retired. All the while Anna's main focus was her family. She was a truly loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Anna took great joy in giving to the Parish of St. Rose, especially by donating flowers for Mass. Anna is survived by her sons, Samuel P. and his wife Carole Leshay of Newfield; Joseph M. and his wife Mary Leshay of Newfield; daughter Anne and husband Robert Vandegrift and of Waynesboro VA; grandchildren Jeanine Sockwell, Denise Leshay, and Melissa Gilmore; and great grandchildren, Zachary, Ryley, Emma, Gwen, and Oliver. A church visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 9 to 10 am followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 am from Saint Rose of Lima Church, 104 Catawba Avenue, Newfield. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Vineland.
