Obituary of Trudi Girone

Trudi Smith Girone passed away peacefully on Friday, February 28, with her husband at her side. She was born in 1948 in Germany to Johann and Melitta Steinke and immigrated to the United States in 1952. Trudi was a graduate of Bridgeton High School and Austin Peay University. She worked as a Child Study Coordinator for various school districts in South Jersey and retired at Stowe Creek Board of Education in 2024. Trudi's passion was working with children with disabilities, and she particularly loved to care for families in need during the holiday season. Trudi is survived by her loving husband, Gene Girone of 26 years; sister Ida Metzger; stepson Erich Girone; granddaughter, Devin Coia; step-granddaughter Sophia Girone; her nieces Deborah Tiltmann, Patricia Kuk, Sandra Harm, and Linda Zinn. She is predeceased by her parents, Johann and Melitta Steinke, her daughter Kelli Grovola, and brother Edmund Steinke. She will be remembered for her laughter, her generosity, and her friendship to many. A funeral home visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 1pm to 2pm followed by a celebration of life at 2pm at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360.
