Obituary of Rita S Quinn

Rita Quinn, (Cresci), age105, passed away peacefully at her home on February 21, 2025. She was born on August 24,1919, to the late Eugene and Augusta (Deola) Cresci, and was a lifelong resident of East Vineland. Upon graduating from Sacred Heart High School in 1937, she attended Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in English. In 1942, she began her 40year professional career at Vineland High School as an English teacher and guidance counselor, and proudly served as class advisor for the classes of 1948, 1952, and 1959. In 2013, Rita was honored by the Vineland High School Historical Committee, presenting her with a plaque that was placed on the school's "Wall of Warriors'' in recognition for distinguished service to education. Rita was a devout Catholic with a special love and devotion for St. Mary's Church and School in East Vineland. Throughout the years, she was an active and supportive member who generously donated her time, talent, and treasure. She organized many of the parish's social and fundraising activities; and served as chairperson for St. Mary's Church Centennial Year of Celebration. Rita enjoyed gardening and during the summer, she could be found planting and tending to the flower garden around the church. She volunteered as an eucharistic minister at Newcomb Hospital with her late husband Phil and continued after his death at South Jersey Healthcare Systems. Rita also supported her husband in his ministry as a Deacon. She was a member of The Secular Augustinians, The Legion of Mary, and prayer group leader. Through the years, Rita traveled extensively throughout the world with her husband and often times with her best friend Nina. Everyone knew that Rita loved people and loved to socialize. She never refused an invitation to a social engagement and was often the last to leave. On holidays and special occasions, she would elegantly entertain her family and friends, in her perfectly decorated home, always making sure there was plenty of food and an assortment of desserts. Rita was known for her sense of style, grace, and attention to detail in everything she did. Rita will be remembered as an extraordinary and inspirational woman, who was admired and respected by everyone whom had the pleasure of knowing her. She was blessed with a loving and generous nature, strong moral character, and a zest for life. Throughout her personal life and professional career, she positively impacted countless lives in countless ways. As the heart and soul of her family, and as a "second mother" to her nieces and nephew, she had been a caregiver, advisor and confidant. Her greatest joy in life was being with her family, each of whom she loved so very dearly and unconditionally. Rita is survived by her niece Andrea Cresci-Fallucca and her husband Philip Fallucca, Jerry (JoAnn Loteck) Cresci; great nephews, Scott (Michelle) Sharps of Florida, Justin (Leslie) and Michael (Brittany) Cresci, sister-in-law Elizabeth Cresci, and other great great nieces and nephew. She was predeceased by her husband Philip Quinn, her niece Denise Killian & (husband Kyran), and her brother Richard Cresci.
