Obituary of Michele Morgen Hogan
Michele Nadine Morgen-Hogan, 67, of Vineland passed away on Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Michele arrived in America from Belgium with her family in 1949 at the age of six and quickly adapted to English and the American lifestyle. She grew up in South Vineland and enjoyed "riding the avenue," ice skating, water skiing, and the beach. She was active with the Girl Scouts as a leader for her daughter's troop. Her love for volunteerism lead Michele to a rewarding career with the Camden County Girl Scouts as their volunteer liaison. Always a fan of classical music, Michele became an active member and President of the Board of the Bay-Atlantic Symphony for nine years playing an instrumental role in fund raising and growing audiences throughout southern New Jersey. Michele was an artist and loved painting with the "Bay Gals" creating landscapes and views of the Bay Shore. She exhibited her art many times and won several awards. An avid cook, she enjoyed having dinner parties for family and friends. There were never any disappointed guests after one of these fabulous meals. While married to Frank Basile, they traveled to several continents and visited China, Morocco, Greece and many European countries. Her favorite destination was Italy. More recently Michele and her husband Leo, explored Russia, Scandinavia and northern Europe. Their yearly visit to the island of St. Maarten was highly anticipated in the winter months. Not only did they enjoy travel but also watching the Phillies and the Eagles and playing a game of Gin Rummy.
Michele will be sadly missed by her husband, Leo T. Hogan; daughter and husband Danielle (Zukerman) and Robert Carroll; grandson Bobby Carroll; granddaughter Kate Carroll, Step-granddaughter Jennifer Colodney; step-daughter Susan Winski; sister and brother-in-law Marianne Kornbluh-Lods and George A. Lods, Sr.; brother Serge B. Morgen, nephew and wife Luke and Andrea Kornbluh, and nephew Cuinn Morgen.
