Obituary of Manuel Candeias

Manuel "Manny" Candeias, 74, passed away on October 31, 2010, at St. Lukes Hospital in Pennsylvania. Manny was born in Cabeca Gorda, Portugal and immigrated to Canada in 1963 before moving to the US in 1972. Work was his passion. He served 15 years apprentice-ship as a blacksmith as well as learning to weld in Portugal before entering the world of welding. His employment with Bechtel as a field-welding engineer and training welders in the welding field, took him around the world traveling with his family. He was rated one of the top ten welders in the world in the 1970's and 80's. Manny was known as a craftsman. Anything he set out to accomplish he completed successfully in all aspects. In Philadelphia he belonged to various clubs, Portuguese Club and Our Lady of Fatima Club. He was an avid sports fan of all sports, especially soccer. He loved gardening and helping in the kitchen with Portuguese dishes and he was a wine connoisseur. Manny enjoyed social activities with his late wife Carolina. Manny is survived by son his and his wife, Manny and Jean Candeias, of E. Aurora, NY; son, John Candeias, of Vineland; son and his wife Henry and Lydia Candeias of Vineland; brother Jose Candeias of Portugal; sister Mary Candeias of Portugal; brother Anthony Candeias of Brazil; grandchildren, Matt, Liz, Katrina, Shane, Alicia, Henry II, and Heather; great-grandchild Gavin Hughes; several nieces and nephews. Funeral home visitations will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm and Friday 10 to11 am followed by a funeral service to be held Friday at 11:00 am at Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery, Vineland.
